PSE COVID-19 Response

As a provider of an essential service, we are working to ensure we are here for our customers, our community and our employees as coronavirus impacts the region.

We know some of our business and residential customers might be worried about paying their bills. Here are measurable actions we’ve taken on behalf of our customers:

  • PSE will not be disconnecting customers for non-payment during this time.
  • During Governor Inslee’s “Stay Home – Stay Healthy” order, PSE will only respond to emergency and make-safe situations which require restoration of power or natural gas such as: outages, natural gas leaks/odors, and low-hanging wire. We will also be working to support the essential facilities and services as listed in Governor Inslee’s critical infrastructure throughout our community.
  • PSE will work with our customers on options such as payment plans and choosing a new bill due date.
  • PSE has an energy assistance portal to facilitate access to funds available to income qualified customers.
  • PSE is requiring our employees to maintain social distancing while working in the field. We encourage our customers to do the same when engaging with our employees.

Get up to 70 percent of the cost covered for energy efficiency upgrades

Save on energy efficiency upgrades for your business site with customized incentives that support your energy efficiency project and goals. Call PSE before you begin your project or submit an application. We’ll have a PSE engineer review your project and begin pre-approval for your commercial retrofit grants.

Current PSE commercial retrofit grants include:

  • Business Lighting
For lighting retrofits, PSE incentives provide up to $0.225 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of projected annual energy savings, up to 70 percent of the total cost of equipment and installation.

  • Custom Grants
For most non-lighting retrofits, PSE incentives provide up to $0.35 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) or $5.00 per therm of projected annual energy savings, up to 70 percent of the total cost of equipment and installation

  • Comprehensive Small Industrial
PSE provides comprehensive energy savings support for small industrial customers, including incentives up to 70% of costs for non-lighting energy projects and site visits to scope future energy saving projects.

  • Advanced Rooftop Control (ARC) Joint Utility Rebate
PSE, Seattle City Light, Snohomish County PUD and Tacoma Power offer a $225 per ton rebate for electric and $50 per ton rebate for gas toward qualifying ARC installations.

  • Variable refrigerant flow
PSE offers $1.00 per square foot of conditioned space for VRF systems.

  • HVAC Controls
PSE incentives provide up to 50 percent of total project costs when making a major upgrade to your HVAC controls system.

  • Cogeneration/Combined Heat and Power (CHP)
PSE provides incentives for qualified cogeneration/combined heat and power (CHP) projects.

  • Pay for Performance
Deep retrofits targeting at least 15% energy savings with PSE incentives up to $0.35/kWh or $5.00/therm, plus a performance incentive of $0.05/kWh or $0.50/therm for savings above the proposed target.

Contact PSE early to get suggestions on how to maximize your grant and savings.

Each retrofit grant is calculated individually by a PSE Energy Management Engineer (EME) to determine the projected annual energy savings and PSE incentive. Pre-approval is required for these incentives and PSE will need to do a site visit prior to the installation of the new equipment. All Retrofit custom grants are subject to PSE cost-effectiveness standards.
