Community Solar site locations
We’ve partnered with communities and organizations across our service area to build multiple new, local solar energy installations. Subscriptions are available now for a limited number of income-eligible shares per site.
How do I qualify?
A PSE residential electric customer can qualify to receive a subscription of one share in one Community Solar site by verifying during the enrollment process that they meet or are below the maximum household income levels per household size as outlined in the below chart. Income-eligible subscribers will be required to confirm their eligibility on an annual basis.

How it works
Community Solar’s income-eligible option offers PSE residential electric customers, including renters and homeowners, the opportunity to choose 100% locally generated solar energy by subscribing to shares in a new solar energy installation of their choice at no cost.
As solar sites are constructed, subscriptions will become available for a limited number of shares per site, including a portion of shares from each site reserved for income-eligible customers. When a solar site is fully subscribed, customers can be added to a waitlist for future availability at that site, or they may choose to subscribe to a different site that may be available.
- The program is voluntary and enrollment is simple.
- Income-eligible customers can self-qualify to receive a subscription of one share in one site of their choice at no cost.
- The energy generated by their share of the site lowers their monthly energy costs as an energy credit on their bill.
- Monthly bill credits will be fixed based on an average solar generation estimate per project, which may vary based on size and location.
- Subscribers can keep their share for the life of the program, estimated to be 15 years or more.
- Income-eligible subscribers will be required to confirm their eligibility on an annual basis.
Frequently asked questions
Who can subscribe to Community Solar?
The Community Solar program is open to PSE electric customers who are billed monthly.
Will solar panels be installed on my roof?
No. As we’ve partnered with communities and organizations across our service area to build multiple new, local solar energy installations, the solar panels will be installed on the rooftops of publicly owned buildings and other properties across our service area. As a result, you can share the benefits of 100% local solar energy without having to invest in and install a rooftop solar system on your own. Whether you own or rent, there’s no roof or equipment required to participate.
Is there a limit on how many shares I can subscribe to?
Customer may subscribe to shares equal to up to 120% of their average monthly electricity use as determined over a 12-month period. No customer may subscribe to greater than 40% of a site’s total available shares.
Will my participation really make a difference?
Yes! The energy generated by your share reduces your carbon footprint by replacing some or all of your regular electricity use with renewable energy that is added to PSE’s power supply. Plus, Community Solar benefits everyone by furthering the development of more local renewable energy resources and collectively driving growth in PSE’s clean energy supply that otherwise would not be available without the support of subscribers.
What is the difference between Community Solar and other programs like Green Power and Solar Choice?
Community Solar is different from our other voluntary renewable energy programs like Green Power and Solar Choice in that the subscribers share the benefits of the solar energy installations that are hosted exclusively within the communities that PSE serves. The solar energy from Community Solar is 100% locally generated in PSE’s service area. Green Power and Solar Choice provide participants with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), or environmental attributes, while Community Solar provides subscribers with RECs and replaces some or all of their regular electricity use with renewable energy added to the local power supply.
